This article provides the steps for enabling the SDO Service for a user, and configuring the Octopus Authenticator on a user's mobile device.

Enabling the SDO Service for a User

  1. To provide user access to SDO-enabled services via the Authenticator, log into the Control Panel as an administrator for the customer account.

  2. Click on My Services in the left-hand menu.

  3. Click on the Secret Double Octopus vendor band to expand it.

  4. Click on the User Licenses tab.

  5. Click on the switch next to the user that is being granted access.
    - Please note that an activation code will be valid for 10 minutes. If you need to resend a new activation code, simply click the Resend button for that user.

Setting up the SDO Authenticator App

The SDO Authenticator App is available for both Android and iOS devices, and can be downloaded from the app store for each platform.

Once the app has been downloaded and installed on a device, users can enroll their login in the app in two different ways.

Enrollment via Email

When the SDO service is first enabled for a user, and anytime when the Resend button is clicked in the Control Panel, and email will be sent to that user's primary address containing the enrollment codes.

Users have three options to enroll their app via the email:

  • If the email is being viewed on the same device where the Authenticator App is installed, simply click on the "Enroll" link in the email to automatically switch to the app and enroll the account.

  • In the Authenticator App, click on the Menu and then select Add Account.  This will activate the camera on the device.  Point the camera at the QR code to scan the code and enroll the account.

  • In the Authenticator App, click the menu and then select Add Account.  When the camera is activated, click on the "Enter Code Manually" button and enter the manual enrollment code shown in the email.

Enrollment via the Control Panel

Users can also obtain the QR code to enroll their Authenticator App via the Control Panel.  To do so, use the following steps:

  1. Log into the Control Panel at https://cp.cloudplusservice.com/
  2. If you have an Administrator role in the Control Panel, switch your Dashboard to User View by clicking the drop-down menu next to the Dashboard title and selecting User View.
  3. In the Secret Double Octopus Activation section of the User Dashboard, click the Generate Device Enrollment Code button.
  4. In the Authenticator App, click on the Menu and then select Add Account.  This will activate the camera on the device.  Point the camera at the QR code to scan the code and enroll the account.
  5. If the code expires, or you receive an Invalid Invitation Code error on the device, click the Refresh QR Code button in the Control Panel to generate a new code.

Important note: All codes automatically expire after 10 minutes.  On occasion due to system latency or user setup time, the initial code presented via email or the Control Panel may register as invalid even if scanned within that 10 minute period.  If this occurs, please wait a few minutes and then generate a new code.  You will then be able to enroll the Authenticator App with that new code.
